A United States Navy "band of brothers", who once served together in a unique helicopter squadron in Vietnam, reunited almost 40 years later to meet with a delegation of their former adversaries: Vietnamese veterans. Meeting at the New York offices of the Permanent Mission of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to the United Nations, the two groups looked into each others eyes and traded views instead of bullets. Topics discussed centered on the effects of chemical defoliants, their side effects, and long term physical and cerebral disabilities. Both United States fighting men and the Vietnamese were victims of the Agent Orange defoliation program. These discussions fostered mutual common grounds and yielded a bond between the former enemies. As a unifying gesture of hope for the future well-being of our nations, the U.S. veterans decided to create the Seawolves' Agent Orange Relief Effort Foundation (SAORE Foundation). These veterans pledged to reach out, identify, and develop all means to provide relief to the victims left behind and to the ones who returned home. While the SAORE Foundation seeks donations, the members perform all tasks ad administration on a pro-bono basis. They accept no pay nor remuneration in this important quest that was brought into being as a "Heart to Heart Mission."
